In a nutshell, the inner tracking box points to the software the actual object that needs to be tracked whereas the outer box tells the program where to look for it in the frame. Next, tweak the outer box so that it covers an appropriate area around the object itself. ![]() Pick the tracker marker that should’ve appeared on your screen, drag it to an area of your subject that has a nice amount of contrast and adjust it accordingly by expanding the inner box to cover the object. Inside of the panel, click on the button labeled Track Motion. Now, right-click on the clip and select Replace with After Effects Composition, which will in turn import the footage into After Effects.Īfter sending your clip to the compositing software, make sure the playhead is located at the beginning of the video, then open the Tracker panel which should be on the right-hand side of the screen (or accessible by going to Window > Tracker). To get this workflow going, first, import your footage into your Premiere Pro project and then add the clip to your timeline. For instance, if you stabilize your footage by tracking onto your actor’s face, the camera will then compensate for the shakiness by trying to keep the face in the center of the frame. Not only does this processing stabilizes your footage, but it also creates a “hyperrealistic effect” that almost follows the point you use to track. This method of stabilization is not a recent innovation whatsoever as it was a common technique used long before Adobe introduced Warp Stabilizer with Premiere Pro CS6 back in 2012. Rather than using Premiere Pro’s built-in stabilizer plug-in, the TravelFeel’s video above suggests employing the object tracking feature of Adobe After Effects as a viable alternative to compensate for the camera shake in your shots. Fortunately, there is still a last-resort method for those occasions when you’re in a pinch, or you just need to stabilize your shot no matter what. This mishap is usually due to the camera shake being too extreme for the effect to handle or a lack of image detail, causing the filter algorithms to incorrectly compensate for the camera move. ![]() What’s more, there are some instances when the filter ends up making your footage look even worse than it actually was in the first place as a result of the applied warping. Even though the Warp Stabilizer in Premiere Pro CC has saved the lives of many video editors throughout the years, the results using the plug-in are far from perfect. ![]() ![]() Aurelian rules with an iron fist, and that means, yes, steamrolling your enemies (a little too easily, but whoever complained about winning?). Here’s where the mechanics of the game come in. No, not the Romans in Palmyra under Queen Zenobia, and not the Gallic Romans, but the Romans led by the guy who actually put Rome back on track: Aurelian. On my first playthrough of Empire Divided, I decided to stay faithful to History and choose the Romans. If you’re a history buff, that sort of thing will draw you in. In my experience playing Wrath of Sparta for example, other than the Greek font found on the map and the more (annoying) island-hopping style of combat, what I noticed most was my advisor telling me historical facts about cities I clicked on. The extra history is the reason you might want to pick up Total War DLCs. Come for the history, stay for the addiction. Empire Divided focuses on a chaotic third century, when the empire was at war with itself. Rome II has had a multitude of DLC’s itself, and justifiably so – the empire spanned a continent or three over the course of a millennium or two. There’s enough content in its DLCs to equate the value of a full release, but for a lower price.
![]() There is, however, a silver lining to the SimCity server fails. I managed to put in a good 10 hours on a couple of different cities during launch week, and then 10 or more from Friday onward as more people started to get back online. Still, it’s impossible to discuss SimCity in the context of a review and not mention what happened during launch week. This review is about the game itself, not technical issues that led to a stumbling release. Whether or not you think that the make-good offer of one free Origin game to those who activate their SimCity copies by March 18 is worthwhile is besides the point. The standard “there were more players than we anticipated” line holds less and less water these days, especially when it’s coming from a publisher like EA that has had problems like this in the past. In short, mistakes were made at Electronic Arts and Maxis, and launch day buyers paid the price. It wasn’t until late Thursday that getting into the game smoothed out to the point that playing for an extended period was even possible, with stability only improving as the launch weekend descended. Things seemed fine to those who jumped in during those first hours, but the Internet connection-required servers that SimCity‘s regions live on, were a flaming wreck by Tuesday morning. The game unlocked for play on Origin at 12:01am ET on Tuesday, March 5, 2013. To say that SimCity had a rocky launch is a gross understatement. Does it come together as Maxis envisioned it? Read on. You’re building on your own plot of land, but that construct exists in the context of a much larger, interconnected world. Your creations no longer float in the ether of discrete saved games they now exist in a region, one populated by other cities that are, in an ideal scenario, overseen by other players. Laying down roads, zoning neighborhoods, and providing basic services are still tied to the fundamental A-to-B progression of play, but a newly online-connected focus is the beating heart of this revised city sim. ![]() Whether or not you agree with that sentiment, it’s impossible to argue the basic fact that this is very much not SimCity as you remember it. It carries an implied declaration: this is the one, true SimCity. There’s something powerful in Maxis’ decision to re-purpose the name of the inaugural game in its classic series for the freshly released reboot. However, a new Sim City title that offers slick visuals and a high level of customisation, as well as multiplayer and social elements, is bound to re-awaken interest in this classic of sand box gaming. Apparently, however, the interface is going to be re-worked so that both newcomers and veterans will be able to hop straight in.Īlthough Sim City has been a regular fixture on EA's release schedules over the last twenty years, the last major PC iteration was almost ten years ago the more mainstream Sims franchise has taken a lot of the attention. Other than that, it looks like the structure will be familiar, with players taking on the role of mayor, attempting to guide his or her town to economic and cultural success. ![]() Participants will need to work together to develop renewable resources and deal with climate change, or compete greedily for resources and to hell with Mother Earth. It looks like you'll even be able to watch as your buildings are constructed by tiny workmen.ĮA has also mentioned that the game will include a multiplayer mode in which cities will stand side by side in interconnected regions. ![]() At the very least, you'll be able to craft highly themed developments going for sleek financial mega cities or smoke-belching industrial zones.įrom the trailer released by EA, there certainly seems to be a wealth of intricate detail, with a realistic sports arena (showing Monster Truck events), power stations and skyscrapers crowding the skyline. The new tech will apparently allow cities to be personalised in intricate detail a feature on the game in a German magazine recently suggested that players would be able to individually customise every building – and would even be able to spy on inhabitants as they are personally affected by boom or bust developments. Development duties are being undertaken by the game's original creator, Maxis, using the proprietary GlassBox engine. ![]() So what can we expect? A major graphical overhaul, of course. As rumoured for several weeks, the town creation classic will be hitting PCs in 2013, and it seems the name will simply be Sim City rather than Sim City 5, suggesting something of a reboot for the series which revolutionalised gaming on its arrival in 1989. It has to be the worst kept secret in city simulation development, but now EA has finally made an official announcement: Sim City is returning. ![]() ![]() ![]() I don’t care if he represents the thin line between dreams and reality, this corrupt miscreation of nostalgia and sin must be stopped. I tell him, “Playing your mystical acorn flute isn’t going to fix the broken water heater.” He gazes at me with self-congratulatory derision before inviting me to step back into my own childhood by taking a nap on his stomach. I tell him, “My lease agreement was written on a bamboo leaf.” He doesn’t care. I tell him, “The common area reeks of garbage.” He ignores me. He refuses to commission a maintenance person to repair my dishwasher, he has increased rent three times in less than a year, and his bellowing growls shake the floorboards and cause mushrooms to sprout magically from the drywall.
